ATLAS Institute presents award-winning folk/rock musicians Andy Hill and Renée Safier in a free concert and video recording session, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 9, in the ATLAS Black Box Studio.

Based in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, Andy Hill and Renée Safier began performing together while they were students at the University of Denver more than 20 years ago. They maintain their Colorado roots through performances at various Colorado venues, including the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, where Safier's prodigious blues and jazz vocals won the acoustic blues competition in 2005.

Hill and Safier perform more than 200 concerts a year. Their 11 independent CD releases have won them numerous awards, including: Los Angeles Music Awards' "Americana Group of the Year" and "Best Duo/Group" from the International Acoustic Music Awards.

As a songwriter, Hill is a student of the folk and rock giants, such as Van Morrison, The Band, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon and Bob Dylan.

He and Safier have hosted the Bob Dylan Festival for more than 20 years. The event draws huge crowds and features top Los Angeles musicians.

The nearest paid parking to the ATLAS building is the Euclid Avenue parking structure located slightly to the east of the UMC on Euclid Avenue, less than a block east of Broadway. The ATLAS building is about a block north of that parking structure, slightly to the east and north of the Visual Arts Complex on 18th Street, just south of where 18th Street bends to become the Colorado Avenue (an east/west road).
